Jonathan Butterfield

Executive Director

Mr. Butterfield was born in Mankato, Minnesota, but still considers Waukesha, Wisconsin, 'home' as he spent his teen years there. Moving with his family to Austin, Texas, he attended Concordia University-Austin, where he completed his Elementary Education degree, played baseball, soccer, golf, and courted his future wife, Leanna.

After teaching and coaching in middle school, the couple moved to River Forest, IL, where Jonathan earned his master's degree in School Leadership at Concordia University and taught and coached at Luther High School North in Chicago. Upon completion of his master's degree, Jonathan accepted a Call to serve as the Assistant Principal at St. Paul's in Orange, CA. After three wonderful years in Orange, the Lord led the family to St. Louis where Jonathan serves as an administrator at CCLS.

In his personal time, Jonathan likes spending time with his family, golfing, watching sporting events, and rooting for his beloved Green Bay Packers. The Butterfields, who have a home in Fenton, have been blessed with five children: Madison, Samuel, Hudson, Savannah, and Sadie. Leanna serves CCLS as the Director of Enrollment. They are members at The Lutheran Church of Webster Gardens.


Royce Hartmann

Middle School Principal

The Lord has richly blessed Mr. Hartmann with the distinct privilege of serving in ministry for 25 years. Mr. Hartmann received his B.A. degree in Education from Concordia University, Ann Arbor, Michigan. He received his M.A. degree in Educational Leadership from Eastern Michigan University. Most recently, he became a graduate of the Van Lunen Fellows Program (Class of 2014).

Mr. Hartmann believes that it is his duty to train a children and young adults spiritually, academically, emotionally, and physically. He also believes that teaching how to apply Biblical knowledge in life will manifest itself in all areas of education. It is our duty to arm people with Biblical knowledge but also to equip everyone with the ability to use that knowledge daily. He considers it a joy it to partner with teachers in nurturing students. Children are such a blessing; full of desires, concerns, passions, gifts, and much more. He is honored to be in a profession that allows him the opportunity to help shape and mold God's children.

In his personal time, Mr. Hartmann enjoys spending time with his family. He and his wife, Krista, are embarking on a new an bittersweet chapter of their lives - being empty nesters. Their daughter, Jenna, will be a senior at Bowling Green State University in Ohio and their son, Jared, will be a freshman at Truman State University. He has a passion for watching, coaching and participating in sports (especially soccer). He is a passionate Michigan Wolverine, Manchester United, Detroit Tigers, St. Louis Cardinals and St. Louis Blues fan. He is hopeful that St. Louis will soon be home to an MLS team. In his spare time he also enjoys completing projects around the house.


Janet Leet

Elementary Principal & Grade 2 P.M. Teacher

Janet Leet is thrilled to be serving in His kingdom as the elementary principal and as one of the second grade teachers at Christ Community Lutheran School. Janet has been serving in ministry at CCLS since 1982. Before coming to St. Louis, Janet was a teacher and a principal at Immanuel Lutheran School in Hamilton, Ohio.

Janet was born in Malden, Massachusetts and lived in Hamilton, Ohio, Waynesboro, Virginia and Radnor, Pennsylvania during her school years. After graduating from Conestoga High School, she attended the University of Kentucky and received her bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. She received her master's degree in reading and supervision from Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. She also completed her colloquy certification from Concordia University, Chicago.

God has blessed Janet with two daughters who are the joy of her life. Jessica is a Pediatric Critical Care Nurse Practitioner currently practicing at St. Louis Children’s Hospital. She is married to Jeffrey Mann. Allison and her husband, Scott Downing, live in Lexington, Kentucky. She is a fourth grade teacher at The Lexington School. Previously she taught for two years in Philadelphia for the Teach for America program and then for five years in the Fayette County Schools. Allison and Scott were blessed with twins on February 28th, 2014. Elinor and Wells are such a joy. Of course, Janet goes to visit them as often as she can.

Janet is a member of Glendale Lutheran Church. In her time away from school, Janet enjoys traveling with friends and visiting with family. She also enjoys going to theater productions, cooking, reading, cheering for the University of Kentucky basketball team and learning about antiques.


Angela Shirley

Early Childhood Director

Angela received her Bachelor's degree in K-8 Elementary Education from Concordia University, River Forest, with minors in music and theology in 1996. Upon graduation, she and her husband, Tanner, moved to Cookeville, TN where she became the Music Minister and 2nd Grade Teacher for Heavenly Host Lutheran Church & School. Angela filled many roles in her 17 years at Heavenly Host including 8th grade homeroom & Middle School English Teacher, Librarian, and Pre-K Teacher, and Director of the Early Childhood Center. Angela has begun her Master's Degree in Instructional Leadership, and recently graduated from the SLED program. During the summer of 2013, the Shirley family moved from the hills of Tennessee to St. Louis, MO, where Angela accepted the Call to become the Director of Early Childhood Education at CCLS.

Angela and Tanner, have been married for 18 years. They have been blessed with three children, Zachariah, Elijah, and Elianna, all of whom attend Lutheran South or CCLS. Angela enjoys playing piano, spending lazy summer days on the lake, and filling her days with precious family time.


Leanna Butterfield

Director of Enrollment

Leanna uses her passion for relational ministry to serve as the Director of Enrollment at Christ Community Lutheran School. In her years prior to full-time motherhood, she was a large scale event coordinator for GE Capital Fleet Services in Irvine, California, and a Recruiter for Dell Computer Corporation, headquartered in Round Rock, Texas.

Leanna received her BS in the fields of Behavioral Science and Communications at Concordia

University in Austin, Texas where she met her husband, Jonathan, who serves as the Executive Director of CCLS. Amongst the many activities she enjoys, spending time with her husband and their five delightful children is her favorite.

Carrie Reck-Meyer

Educational Technologist

Carrie Reck-Meyer, a native of St. Louis, received her undergraduate degree from the University of Missouri, Columbia, MO, and her master’s degree in educational technology from Webster University, St. Louis, MO. She has additional graduate hours in computer science and has completed the colloquy program at Concordia University, Chicago, IL. Carrie has twice been named Teacher of the Year by the Kirkwood Rotary.

Since 1990, Carrie has been teaching and leading technology at CCLS. Mrs. Reck-Meyer has been a strong advocate for staying current with the rapidly changing world of technology. She has helped lead the way for the middle school, grade 5 - 8, to adopt a 1:1 initiative with Chromebooks, along with implementing iPads and Chromebooks throughout CCLS. Teachers and students use SMART Boards (interactive whiteboards), Apple TVs, Chromecasts and other technology devices to enhance the teaching and learning process.

Mrs. Reck-Meyer is married to Doug Meyer. They are blessed to have three grown children: Christina (DCE at Peace Lutheran Church, St. Louis, MO) is married to Ed Stackle, Daniel (DCE at Christ Memorial Lutheran Church, St. Louis, MO) is married to Beth, and Laura (IBM client executive to Apple) and four wonderful grandchildren: Jacob, Hannah, Caleb, and Elise. Mrs. Reck-Meyer is a member of Concordia Lutheran Church in Kirkwood.


Jennifer Pawlitz

Director of Mission Advancement

Jen Pawlitz has served as the Director of Mission Advancement at CCLS since 2013. She finds great joy in witnessing the tremendous generosity within the CCLS community!

Jen has a B.S. in Chemistry and worked for several years in pharmaceutical research. In December, 2016, she completed her Master of Business Administration degree from Saint Louis University!

Jen and her husband, Aaron, have been actively involved as volunteers at CCLS since their daughter, Emma, now in 8th grade, began in the preschool program. They are members of Concordia Lutheran Church, Kirkwood.


Carrie Duesenberg

Business Manager

Carrie Duesenberg is excited to be able to serve as the Business Manager at Christ Community Lutheran School. Born in Oklahoma City, OK, she’s lived in Norman, OK, Chattanooga, TN, and St. Louis, MO, as her father was a LCMS pastor and moved to serve different churches. She’s always been a part of the Lutheran community growing up and loves being back in that atmosphere here at CCLS.

Carrie graduated from Lutheran South in 1998 and received her Masters of Accountancy from MIZZOU in 2003. While working at a local accounting firm she received her CPA license in 2007. After college she met her husband Keith (CCLS alum) and now has two children, Natalie & Christian, who attend CCLS. Carrie and her family are members at Concordia Lutheran Church. In her free time she loves to bake, sew, and spend time with her family.


Erica Eggerding

Volunteer Coordinator

Erica is excited to serve as the Volunteer Coordinator at Christ Community Lutheran School. Erica holds a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education from Fontbonne University. She graduated from CCLS and attended Lutheran High School South where she met her husband, Dean.

Erica's first position out of college was teaching preschool and middle school special education in central Illinois. A few years later, the couple moved back to St. Louis where Erica taught kindergarten in the Rockwood School District. After staying home with her children for 11 years and volunteering in various ways at CCLS, Erica has accepted the position of Volunteer Coordinator, a role where she can use her passion for CCLS and helping volunteers find their sweet spot within the school's reimagined volunteer program, TEAMMATES.

In her free time, Erica and Dean love spending family time together, traveling and attending sporting events for their three children: Cole, Chloe and Max.
