CCLS-USA & CCLS-U: AN INTERNATIONAL PARTNERSHIP

Kawete is a little village located in a remote part of Uganda, Africa, one of the most impoverished countries in the world. There is no running water and little or no electricity. The life expectancy is one of the lowest in the world as AIDS and malaria run rampant, the majority of the population live far below the poverty level, and the list goes on. Yet, some of the most beautiful children in the world - God's little princes and princesses - have the opportunity to receive a Christian education every day of the week at CCLS-U thanks to the efforts of CCLS-USA.

The partnership began in 2008 through pre-owned clothing donations, grew into the collection of funds to purchase goats and throw a feast, continued with the sale of bricks to turn the orphanage into a school building, and now boasts over 400 students taking advantage of a multi-building school campus, including a newly constructed girls dormitory and clinic.

In a sense, this mission has taken on a life of its own—ministering to our own staff, parents, and children probably as much, if not more, than it has ministered to those in Kawete. God has used this mission to grow CCLS-USA, while it is called to serve to grow CCLS-U.

UGANDA BEAD PROJECT

Women from the Kawete village take paper from many colors and hand-roll it into extremely durable, water-resistant paper beads. Each beautiful bead represents the care and craftsmanship of the artist.

Upon each visit, members of the CCLS-St. Louis traveling teams purchase these beads and, in turn, make them into jewelry -- necklaces, bracelets, rings, key chain fobs, lanyards, and Christmas ornaments -- to be sold to raise funds for the project.

100% of the sale of these items goes directly back to CCLS-U for the sustenance of the school, teachers' salaries, and medical care. Purchase of any of these items helps to bring hope for a future of this ministry.

Getting Involved

In 2008, CCLS-St. Louis made the commitment to support an orphanage with our material possessions, financial resources, and prayers. God has certainly blessed our leap of faith, and through various partnerships, CCLS-U has become a thriving school.

Is there a need for you or your school to take a similar leap of faith? Of course! Not only is there much more to be done at CCLS-U, but there are significant needs all around our globe. CHrist community International

(CCI)

Christ Community International is a 501(c)3 organization, founded in 2013, to continue a 10 year mission in Kawete, Uganda. Our predecessors in mission worked closely with local partners in Uganda to identify Kawete as a community in need of and best suited to support a Lutheran primary school community. During the initial development plan, the missionaries worked closely with organizations like Christ Community Lutheran School - St. Louis and its member churches, as well as numerous other group and individual donors to construct and staff the school and medical clinic. The current leadership of CCI took over the mission with the objectives of continuing and growing the relationships, focusing on education, health and nutrition care, spiritual support, infrastructure and economic development.
